Using a rights-based lens, and drawing on national and international early childhood curricula, including the updated Aistear in the Irish context, this book takes a practical approach to exploring and explaining a range of important concepts in the care and education of babies and toddlers, including Child agency, Agentic Educators; Relational pedagogy, babies and toddlers as Local and Global Citizens.
It also introduces some new innovative concepts, such as NOD: Noticing Observing and Documenting as a strategy to upholds babies’ and toddlers’ rights, while STRIVE encourages you to develop a Sustainable, Temporal, Relational, Inclusive, Voluntary and Empowering framework to establish a culture of participation across the entire early childhood setting.
